Open a Company in Brazil: 20 to 150 Days, Really

The 21-hour average is not your timeline

Por Lucas Ribeiro Cavalcante — OAB/CE 44.673

You promised your partner a launch date. Now the notary abroad wants three more weeks, and the bank has not even opened your file yet.

21 hours

Brazil's official average to open a company. It only measures the online registry stage.

✘ Mito

Myth: registration in one day means your company is ready to operate

✓ Verdade

Truth: the document chain and the bank account sit outside that clock

Brazil follows Civil Law, so form matters. A signature from abroad needs notarisation, apostille and a sworn translation. That chain alone eats 3 to 6 weeks.

Living in Brazil: 20-35 days

Signing from abroad: 45-90 days

Bank plus investor visa: 90-150 days

Dica

If you already hold a CPF, a CRNM and a gov.br account, a services LTDA can be registered in 3 to 10 business days. That is the exception, not the rule.

You never needed a Brazilian partner. The LTDA can have a single quotaholder since the Economic Freedom Law.

Do I need minimum capital for a services LTDA?

No. A services LTDA has never required minimum capital under the Brazilian Civil Code.

Stop guessing dates. Get a timeline you can promise your partners and keep.
